Sometimes small desires turn ideas into something great. “I didn’t want my pullovers to look self-knitted anymore. They were supposed to look like self-bought”, describes Iris von Arnim the decision to found her own company in 1978. By then she was one of ten creative heads who drew attention to fashion ‘made in Germany’, giving it a whole new and unique image. Today, 30 years later, Iris von Arnim is the only label whose founder still works as the head designer and leads her company independently. Iris von Arnim set the trend in the 1970s with a rainbow pullover made of finest angora. She realized that quality and rebellion are not mutually exclusive. She introduced new processing techniques, and to this very day she is only satisfied when the new collection forms an intrinsic whole, down to the last detail.

Today the next generation is taking on the responsibility for the label. Together with his mother, Valentin von Arnim is taking the 25 employees successfully into the future. Today, the Hamburg-based label’s goods are stocked by more than 200 exclusive shops and department stores worldwide. Iris von Arnim has a mono brand store on the North German island of Sylt and several shop-in-shops.
